Hi, I just found this community to my surprise. I lived in Flint for about 8 years, and I've been wanting to keep up with the place I grew up in.

Hello there, my name is Amy and while I don't live in Flint, I am moving to Grand Blanc next week. I attend the University of Michigan-Flint.

I used to go to flint when I was a kid to go ice skating. I remember going to the Waterstreet Pavillion, which is now the University Pavillion. I love downtown- I love Saginaw Street. It's just really cool. Its really sad whats happening to Flint, and the only thing we can hope for is a good mayor and someone to realize what Flint is turning into- a college town. Some university housing for U-M Flint and it will be complete. I know its silly, but the truth of the matter is that it could bring some new life into the city.

Campus is cool, but the truth of the matter is that most of us are scared to venture off of campus...

My name is Sarah. I don't really live in Flint but heck no one really knows where Montrose is unless you are from around here. Montrose is lil so basicly have to go to Flint for everything. I don't mind living in this area. Only thing I don't like is the weather of Michigan tho lol. I would love to move to AZ. But if anyone wants to say Hi, go right on for it. Till later...

Hello all!

My name's Kathryn, I'm 21 years old and I've lived in Flint off and on my entire life.
I attended Potter Elementary up until sixth grade and lived in that neighborhood all my childhood.
The rest of my family either still live or used to live on the East side though.
And everyone on my dad's side of the family have either worked for or retired from GM.
My Grandpa and Uncle worked for the Buick plant up until they closed it.
And I have a few relatives who are still employed at the Delphi plants.

I moved out of Flint when I was 12 and came to Kalkaska, where I live now and I attend college up here at Northwestern Michigan College.
When I was 15 I moved back to live with relatives in Davison and when I 17 moved back again to live with an Aunt in Mundy Township.
My family is pretty much scattered all over the Flint area only four still live in the city of Flint itself, the rest are in the surrounding cities..suburbia.

It's cool to find a community about Flint itself.
As bad as Flint looks, though I hear they're trying to clean it up, since the last time I visited (last Christmas) I love the place.
Flint is my home!

And I'm also a huge fan of Michael Moore.
I remember watching Roger and Me and Pets or Meat on PBS when I was a kid.
My mom told us it was important to know about these things and ever since I've been a fan of Michael Moore and his causes.
And to this day remain very involved in political and social issues.

Well, that's my personal history in Flint.
Nice meeting you all.

Growing up Flint was something that I really dont regret but will never let happen for my family. They will attend school in Grand Blanc which is where I attened school and mostly grew up at. The city of Flint has changed so much in the last ten years. I remember being able to travel downtown without any problems. Autoworld was a cool place to visit and its a shame that it closed down before really anybody had a chance to experience it. Water Street Pavillon was another great place and tis a shame about that place as well. The really big kicker is Windmill Place becuase there were great restrauants over there. I think when GM pulled out about 14 years ago, the town just went to a complete dump. Mayor Stanley really did nothing for the city and now its a shame that the state has to run the city. I'm so glad that I moved out of Flint and Michigan when I did. I do miss my friends and family that still live there but will only be back to visit and see if the schools are just as good when I was growing up for my kids. I dont like the school districts here in FL. They all suck. Back to Flint being a dump, the town is blue collar and they are afraid of change up there. Yes, granted GM is gone and there are two plants basically left in the county now but seriously as soon as the V8 engine plant closes along with the Cadalic Plant in Grand Blanc what is the town going to do? Everybody will be helpless because they all have depended so much on GM throughout the years that it should be interesting to see what happens. I'm not trying to be mean or anything just make a point b/c the town needs to find away to make money. There will be no tourists if nothing ever gets done around there. RIP Flint, MI August 2000!
